Keynote Speakers: Using Cards Live

Goal

Use Coachable Cards in your keynotes and presentations to create interactive, memorable experiences that give your audience clarity they can hold in their hand.

The Speaker Promise

"Clarity you can hold in your hand. Momentum you can feel."

Coachable Cards transform your talks from passive presentations into interactive experiences. Every audience member leaves with:

  • A card they drew
  • A question that resonated
  • A next step they can take
  • A moment they'll remember

Quick Start

  1. Choose your approach (3 ways below)
  2. Set up technical requirements (see Tech Checklist)
  3. Practice the flow (see Audience Interaction Flow)
  4. Deliver your talk

Time to first card draw: 5 minutes

3 Ways to Use Cards Live

1. Live Card Draws (Interactive)

Best for: Keynotes, workshops, interactive sessions

How it works:

  • Audience member draws a card live
  • Project it on screen
  • Discuss the question together
  • Everyone engages with the moment

Setup:

  • Project your screen
  • Open deck URL: https://leadership.c.cards
  • Have audience member come up or use their phone
  • Draw a card together

Example script:

"I'm going to have someone come up and draw a card. This card will guide our next conversation. [Name], come on up and swipe through the deck. When you see a question that speaks to you, stop there."

2. Card-Based Frameworks (Structure)

Best for: Structured talks, teaching moments, frameworks

How it works:

  • Use cards to structure your talk
  • Each card represents a point or section
  • Pre-select cards that align with your message
  • Reveal cards as you progress

Setup:

  • Pre-select 3-5 cards that match your talk structure
  • Create a slide deck with card screenshots
  • Or use the live deck and navigate to specific cards

Example structure:

  1. Card 1: "What am I avoiding?" → Opening question
  2. Card 2: "What would I do if I wasn't afraid?" → Main theme
  3. Card 3: "What's one thing I can ship today?" → Call to action

3. Physical Passcards (Takeaway)

Best for: Workshops, intimate sessions, lasting impact

How it works:

  • Hand out physical Passcards to audience
  • Each person gets a card
  • They take it home as a reminder
  • Creates tangible connection

Setup:

  • Order physical Passcards deck
  • Or print cards yourself
  • Hand out during talk or at the end

Example script:

"I'm going to pass around a deck of cards. Each card has a question. Take one that speaks to you. This is your clarity card—something to hold onto after you leave here today."

The Exact Flow for Audience Interaction

During Talk: Live Card Draw

Step 1: Introduce Cards (30 seconds)

"I'm going to do something different today. Instead of just talking at you, we're going to have a conversation. And we're going to use cards to guide it."

Step 2: Select Participant (30 seconds)

"I need a volunteer. Who's willing to come up and draw a card? [Wait for hand]. Great, [Name], come on up."

Step 3: Draw Card Together (1-2 minutes)

  • Open deck on your device or theirs
  • Navigate through cards together
  • Let them swipe/choose
  • When they stop: "That's the one. Read it out loud."

Step 4: Process the Card (2-3 minutes)

  • Read the question together
  • Ask: "What comes up for you when you hear that?"
  • Facilitate discussion (you're the mirror, not the teacher)
  • Connect to your talk theme

Step 5: Continue Your Talk (rest of time)

  • Use the card as a thread
  • Reference it throughout
  • Come back to it in closing

Closing: Integration (2 minutes)

Option 1: Share the Card

"That card we drew—[question]—that's your takeaway. What's one insight you're taking from this?"

Option 2: QR Code

  • Generate QR code (press Q in deck)
  • Project it on screen
  • Audience scans to access deck
  • They can draw their own card

Option 3: Physical Cards

  • Hand out Passcards
  • Each person takes one
  • "This is your clarity card. Hold onto it."
